Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
BasketMate is a household shopping list app built by AtStudios. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We keep things simple โ we don't sell your data and we never will.
What We Collect
BasketMate collects only the minimum data needed to make the app work:
- Your chosen display name (e.g. "Andreas") โ stored locally on your device
- Your household code โ stored locally and in our database to link family members
- Your shopping list items, aisles, and store preferences
- Push notification subscription tokens โ used only to send shopping alerts to your household
What We Don't Collect
- We do not collect your real name, email address, or phone number
- We do not collect payment information
- We do not collect location data
- We do not use advertising trackers or analytics SDKs
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to provide the BasketMate service:
- Syncing your shopping list in real time across household members
- Sending push notifications when a family member adds an item โ only when you have My List open
- Saving your aisle layout and favourite products
Data Storage
Your data is stored securely on Neon PostgreSQL (cloud database) and hosted via Render. Both providers are GDPR-compliant. Shopping list data is associated with your household code only โ not with any personal identity.
โ ๏ธ Your household code is the only way to access your list. Keep it private. Anyone with your code can view and edit your shopping list.
Push Notifications
If you grant notification permission, we store a push subscription token linked to your household. This token is used only to send shopping alerts within your household. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device or browser settings.
Data Retention
Your shopping list data is retained as long as you use the app. If you would like your household data deleted, please contact us and we will remove it within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
BasketMate is designed for family use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require any personal information to function โ only a display name of your choice.
Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about your household
- Request deletion of your household data
- Object to processing of your data
To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
